Support for Bureau of Labor Statistics - Local Area Employment Reports
  • About: These reports are based on data from The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) - Local Area Employment Data (LA) and cover years 1990 to 2010. Click here for the official BLS description of the LA survey.
  • The Data is "not seasonally adjusted" and is based on the following BLS-LA data files: "la.data.0.CurrentU90-94", "la.data.0.CurrentU95-99", "la.data.0.CurrentU00-04", "la.data.0.CurrentU05-09", "la.data.0.CurrentU10-04".
  • Disclaimer: The reports are provided "as is" and while we make every effort to insure they are accurate, no warranties of any kind on their accuracy are provided or should be assumed/presumed. You can always cross reference our reports with those provided by the BLS to make sure they are accurate.
  • Services: We can provide custom data, scripts and/or reports to interested parties for a fee. An example: a SAS script to import BLS data files from their native "csv" format.
  • Copyright: Our reports can be used copyright free as long as AnyStats.com and/or ComputerAce.com is credited as source.

   Help with Charting:

  • No Chart(s) Displayed: The charts may not always display. This can happen when the time/window frame is too large, the chart dimensions (width and/or height) are too small or the chart type is not "adequate" for the number of data points or series displayed. Obviously, in order to fix this problem you can reduce the time window/frame and/or increase the chart dimensions and/or select a different chart type. Click/check the "Customize" box and adjust any, some or all of the possible options suggested above. Click/uncheck the "Customize" box when done.
  • Background Color Picker may partially be covered by the chart when trying to customize the background. A work around would be to temporarily switch from a "Flash" chart style to an image chart by checking the "Img/Flash" box, selecting the desired color (by clicking the "Backgr." link), and finally un-checking the "Img/Flash" box (or, if you are happy with the "Image" chart style skip this last step).
  • Comparisons among two or more regions are possible. In order to run a comparison, you have to select two or more regions by holding down the control (Ctl) key and click the desired regions. Make sure you only select a "reasonable" number of regions (4?, 5?, 10?...) as you may not get any results (because the time frames might be disjoint) or you can crash the system...
  • Colored cells in tables represent the minimum (yellow cells) and maximum (pink cells) for the respective year (and region if more than one region selected).
  • If you get the "Error Page" it is most likely because your browser session expired. Depending on what browser you use, you can start "fresh" by clearing your browser's "cache". The cache cleaning process may also clear any passwords you may have saved (like those from your online banking) or/and your browsing history, etc. therefore you will have to enter those passwords again when you revisit the sites. Here are two web pages that explain how clear the browser cache:  Indiana University and wikiHow
